This week, our team went out to survey a filming location for our laboratory-themed project. We were looking for a space that could be transformed into a realistic and believable laboratory environment. We searched for a location with good lighting and ample space to accommodate our filming crew and equipment. After an extensive search, we found a promising location that fits our requirements and captures the essence of a laboratory setting.
Outdoor environment
This week, we were introduced to various types of filming equipment, including different types of lighting equipment, cinematic camera, a color checker, and other essential tools for filming. After the class, I immediately began to prepare for our upcoming filming sessions by setting up a detailed and mood board. In order to find inspiration for my short film, I conducted extensive research on popular platforms like Pinterest and Vimeo, where I discovered a wide range of interesting and informative resources related to our project.
On week one we team up in group of four.
Group: Natthakarn A, Wuttipat V, Ysabelle V, Matthew A. We do a brainstorm and create a logline which our creature will an alien.
Tagline: “Language shedding light” Logline: "An art student stays at campus overnight to finish a project, but soon find themselves pursed by something that only speaks through light, they must keep moving to escape the creature’s clutches."
Our film is a story of an alien who speaks in light trying to warn a human of an impending threat, but due to the communication barrier, the human is unable to understand.
As is obvious, In the Dark’s main theme is all about miscommunication, thus I believe our alien creature should embody that idea through its design.
